Empowering Women to Lead Communities

Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) organizes, educates, and empowers local women to become community changemakers working in collaboration with local government to make the underserved neighborhoods more equitable, sustainable, and gender inclusive. MHT has been working for three decades, cultivating community action groups, saving collectives, financial tools, relationships with local vendors. They began their work in Ahmedabad and now work in 34 cities across 8 states, impacting more than 2 million residents of marginalized informal neighborhoods in India.
