Community Leader: Dipika Malik
Dipika Malik has lived for several decades in Bhagwatinagar, an informal settlement in Ahmedabad, India. She was given into an arranged marriage at 14, and moved from the country to the city where she did not speak the language or know how to read. In these short videos Dipika tells about her life and her evolution as a more independent woman, mother and wife, who has become a proud and active Community Leader working with the support of the local NGO Mahila Housing Trust.
